Feed Your Mind!

I have fallen in love with these beautiful editions from the Penguin Books Great Food Series. If you haven’t seen the books they are are slim paperbacks devoted to some of the best and wittiest food writing of the past. Some of which would probably have been lost in obscurity if not reprinted in these volumes. Right now I’m reading Isabella Beeton’s The Campaign for Domestic Happiness before bed each night. Beeton was a lot more organized than me! But I love to hear her advice on throwing a dinner party, it feels very Downton Abbey. I also loved the very entertaining Exciting Food For Southern Types by Italian writer Pellegrino Artusi (not to be confused with the wonderful Italian-American food writer, Angelo Pelligrini–his funny and wonderful books on food and cooking, including The Unprejudiced Palate, are also must reads!). I think these will be wonderful holiday gifts for the gourmet bookworm, what do you think?
