KEEPERS Kudos!

P1270190 P1270174 P1270202 P1270170 P1270209 P1270189 P1270188So yesterday my co-author and I found out that our cookbook, KEEPERS, was nominated for an IACP award! For those of you who are not familiar, these are prestigious annual cookbook and journalism awards that are given by the International Association of Cookbook Professionals. Authors and publications are nominated by their peers in the food-writing community, so it’s especially gratifying, kind of like the SAG awards but without the red carpet gowns, Ryan Seacrest, etc.

Here is a link to all of the nominees.
Even more exciting (and intimidating) is that the two other authors in our category are none other then the legendary Mollie Katzen and Alice Waters! I admire both of these ladies immensely—Katzen’s classic cookbook, The Enchanted Broccoli Forest, was one of the first cookbooks I ever bought for myself and cooked out of as a twentysomething; and Waters work with The Edible Schoolyard is incredibly inspiring–it’s such a thrill to be in their company.

And because a cookbook takes a village, I’ve included photos (up top) from the week long KEEPERS photo shoot at my house. Including this portrait of everyone who helped make the book the beautiful thing that it is. P1270212I’ll let you know how we do, but in the meantime,  keep your Keepers-fingers crossed!
