Like many rural places in the Northeast, the midcoast of Maine is threaded with winding dirt roads and thick wooded areas full of wild berry bushes. Last year we were in Maine during blackberry season, and on our daily walks we spent more time ravaging the bushes for dark purple berries than actually walking. This year we were lucky to be visiting during raspberry season
