What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?

We are wrapping up the year with some last minute bubbly shopping, upside pineapple cake making (pineapples are good luck, yes? or are they the symbol of hospitality??), and I got a nice bag of Meyer lemons yesterday at Trader Joe’s so I’m thinking of making a batch of lemon curd for New Year’s Day breakfast tomorrow, maybe on top of ricotta pancakes…

It’s hard to believe another year of blogging, cooking, and writing is almost over, but I wanted to thank all of you out there for following my blog and being a part of my everyday food adventures. I’m looking forward to more in the next year!

I also wanted to show off the new Devil & Egg t-shirts! As modeled by Conor and Belle (the original devil and egg models). They were a Christmas gift from my dad and I’ve already sent one to my in-laws to take on their trip to New Zealand as a form of international advertising. If you’d like one let me know! But I’m also going to be having little contests throughout 2012 for a t-shirt prize.

In the meantime I will try and post my curd and cake before the ball drops–I won’t be cooking dinner this year because we’re going to ring in the New Year with friends up the street–but if I don’t get my posts in under the wire have a very happy New Year!! And see you in 2012!

  1. Oh, I want a t-shirt!! I’m a big fan of Devil & Egg 😉 You’re menu items sound delicious – I look forward to seeing them tonight or tomorrow. I’m like you – I’m trying to get some posts in under the gun while also trying to get ready for tonight! We’re hosting so I have a lot of post Christmas cleaning to do along with the cooking.
Best to you in 2012! I look forward to another year of reading D & E! xo – Katie

    Happy New Year, Caroline!
I really enjoy your blog, so keep up the yummy narrative recipes. Let all of us ( your followers) know the price of ordering a tee!
I’ll advertise for you here in the Hudson Valley!
I have a friend who lives on a small farm and just started blogging about food too. She is adapting recipes to be gluten free. For boxing day ( she has a party every year) she made the best pecan pie that I have ever had! Gluten free! It took her a few years to work out the kinks.
I have referred her to your blog, so she can get some tips from an expert.
Give my love to your mom.

    All the best,
    Kathleen

Nice photos of Belle & Conor. I(June) love the T shirts. I would also like to order one–send info please. How is the book coming–deadline is now past!!!! We would like info about the book when published–so we can order one. I (June) looked back at all of your posts and photos from day ONE. I laughed myself silly when I was reading the fire in the oven. Laughed so hard I cried. So glad nothing serious transpired. Keep up the good work. We do keep up on your posts. Tell everyone HELLO and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR. I will have to dig out the beet pickle recipe before summer. Cowboy and June

      Hi JennyFair-
Keep your eyes open tomorrow for four active-seniors from America traipsing around Auckland! One will hopefully be wearing the shirt (maybe you can barter for it?).
I’ve been to NZ twice and am madly in love with your beautiful country, hope to be back soon one day.
      Best,
      Caroline

I love those Ts! Would’ve loved one in my stocking this year, but all I got was a Milky Way Midnight. Happy New Year Caroline!
