What are you making for the Super Bowl?

I’m about to do my run to the grocery store for game day provisions and I’ve been fielding requests from my family. Clearly this is a day when elegance and moderation are not in order. It’s almost like they should start New Year’s resolutions after Super Bowl Sunday because what’s the point of turning vegan the week before someone hands you a pulled-pork slider? Wait until Monday to go healthy.

So possibilities for today’s menu include the following: pigs in a duvet (up top; so named because we use the whole hot dog and wrap it in puff pastry strips with a sheet of mustard in between), 7-layer nachos topped with chipolte caesar salad, crunchy buffalo chicken strips (modeled on the addictive ones sold at a tavern down the street from my house), sweet potato fries with a yogurt dip… tangy avocado dip…queso fundido with chorizo…mini Roman-style pizzas…And beer. For the adults. Root beer for the kids. Maybe root beer floats… So what are you making? Or if you’re headed to a Super Bowl party, what are you hoping that someone will make for you? Go Packers!
